North West MPA Awards

On Monday we headed over to Red Hall Hotel in Bury for the Annual North West Master Photographer of the Year competition, and we are pleased to say we did rather well! Not only did we pick up a Bronze award in the Wedding Album Category and a Merit Award in the Traditional Wedding Category, but the big shock of the night was that we won both First and Second (Gold and Silver Award) in the Pet Photography category!

Big thanks go out to John Parris, who judged and presented the awards, and to Lydia Taylor-Jones and everyone on the committee who organised such a brilliant day and evening!

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Garner!

The day began with a short trip over to Louise's parents' house in Sandiway, near Delamere Forest. I always listen to a few chilled out tunes on the way to a wedding and on this occasion Cold Play was the band of choice - so after the initial peace and calm of the car journey over I was greeted with a slightly hectic house full of busy bridesmaids trying to dress themselves and the ushers at the same time. Louise seemed remarkably calm in all of this.

The service took place at the near by St John The Evangelist in Sandiway. A lovely church but unfortunately I was unable to shoot during the service, which is always frustrating for a wedding photographer as you see so many moments you would love to capture but can't. Every church has their own rules and so I have learned to respect that even though I did fire off a couple of cheeky shots from the back!

After a beautiful service we headed over to the stunning Crabwall Manor in Chester. After a quick glass of champers for the bride and groom we took a stroll around the Manor's beautiful gardens for a creative photo session. Adam and Louise where a joy to work with and you could really see that they wanted to work with me to achieve a stunning set of photographs....which I believe I did.

Here are a few of their highlights ...

SWPP Gold Award!

I'm over the moon to say that I received the prestigious SWPP Gold Award in the Contemporary Wedding Category this month!

Marking has become stricter in recent months and higher awards have been made much harder to achieve, which makes my award this month a real pat on the back.

The winning image (below) was captured at Philip & Suzanne's wedding last month at Samlesbury Hall, near Preston. Many thanks to Suzanne & Philip, you were a wonderful couple to work with and without you guys this image would never even have been possible!
